A CONNING PLAN FOR SURVIVAL

HAWKHURST PARK

Hawkhurst   1 Sheffield United   1
R O'Connor 87 pen

A Gray 13

Attendance: 3,296

Once again Hawkhurst FC showed how much they miss number one goalkeeper Ben Cooley as they almost lost another three points.

Ben Cooley has been ruled out until the end of the season with a twisted ankle, and recently cleared Ravens has been called in as a desperate measure to save the team.

But he was powerless to stop Andy Gray's curling free kick on the 13th minute after Bulbrook aimed a wild sliding tackle at Gray, which resulted in a booking.

The Hawks struggled for the rest of the first half and the majority of the second half, but Taylor looked dangerous when he was brought on in the 62nd minute.

With ten minutes to go, he chipped the ball over Kenny and it looked like it was going in, but it hit the cross-bar and bounded back into play to be picked up by Kenny.

With just three minutes to go, Rhys O'Connor was awarded a penalty and he slotted it coolly into the left-hand corner of the net to save the Hawks from a disappointing defeat.

Chuck Masterson refused to comment after the match, but with two games left, the most Hawkhurst can hope for is a play-off place.
